If you’ve ever driven the winding country roads of Franklin County, Georgia, near Royston and Franklin Springs, you may have passed Victoria Bryant State Park—a quiet park that offers both outdoor adventure and a lasting remembrance of a mother and her son.
A Son’s Gift of Love
In 1952, local resident Paul E. Bryant donated 45 acres to the state in memory of his mother, Victoria Osborn Bryant, asking that the park carry her name. Over time, additional donations expanded it to 502 acres, creating a sanctuary where families can relax, explore, and enjoy nature.
Trails and Hiking
The park’s trails range from short family-friendly loops to the 5.9-mile loop, perfect for moderate hikes through hardwood forests, across creeks, and gentle hills.

Water and Fishing
Victoria Bryant offers two small fishing ponds and Rice’s Creek, ideal for fishing or simply enjoying a peaceful spot by the water.
Camping and Recreation
Camping options include tent, RV, and pioneer sites. Picnic shelters, a seasonal swimming pool, and playgrounds make it a versatile destination for families.
Highland Walk Golf Course
The park features the 18-hole Highland Walk Golf Course, with Bermuda fairways and rolling greens. It’s suited for both beginners and experienced golfers. Overnight golf packages are available in the Bluebird Cottage.
Archery and Seasonal Programs
Visitors can try the archery range. Meanwhile, seasonal events—like youth fishing days, golf tournaments, and educational programs—offer fun for all ages.

Planning Your Visit
The park is open year-round with a small ParkPass fee. Camping and golf reservations can be made online through Georgia State Parks or ReserveAmerica. Check the events calendar for seasonal programs and activities.
Next time you’re in northeastern Georgia, take a detour to this peaceful escape. Walk, fish, camp, or tee off at Highland Walk—you’ll feel the care and love that inspired its creation.
