Get ready for a historic tradition with a new twist! The 48th Annual Lake Hartwell Dam Run returns on May 2, 2026. While usually known for its spectacular crossing into South Carolina, the 2026 event features a modified 4K lakeside course due to essential maintenance on the dam’s floodgates.
Hosted by the Hart County Running Club and the Hartwell Lions Club, this race remains a “bucket-list” experience for regional runners. Every step supports local youth athletics, with all proceeds benefiting the Hart County High School Cross Country and Track Teams. Expect a high-energy atmosphere, lakeside views, and a post-race celebration with food and awards.

Distance Change: For 2026 only, the race will be a 4K (approx. 2.5 miles). There is no 10K option this year.

Course Route: The run will start at Big Oaks, follow the Dam Path to the edge of the dam, and return. It will not cross into South Carolina or access Hwy 29.

No Race Day Registration: You must register online in advance.

No Pets/Strollers: To ensure runner safety on the path, pets and strollers are not permitted on the course.
Parking: Free parking is available at the Corps of Engineers Resource Manager’s Office area.
