A Masterclass in Rhythm and Storytelling
Experience the explosive energy of tap dance as the award-winning Dorrance Dance company takes the stage at the Peace Concert Hall. The performance begins at 8:00 PM, showcasing a brand-new program that highlights the immense musicality and versatility of its “close-knit family” of dancer-musicians. This special engagement features the choreographic debut of longtime company members Elizabeth Burke and Luke Hickey.
A Swing Suite and Beyond
The evening features the premiere of A Swing Suite (2023), a work deeply inspired by the music that shaped Burke and Hickey’s artistic lives under their mentor, Gene Medler. It is a rhythmic homage to the idea that almost every road leads back to home. The program is paired with Michelle Dorrance’s critically acclaimed SOUNDspace | REDUX (2013), an exploration of unique acoustics through the myriad sounds and textures of the feet. Together, these works blast traditional notions of tap dance, transforming movement into a visual and auditory delight.
