A Bold Orchestral Exploration of Contemporary Creativity
Experience the cutting edge of American music with a program featuring works composed exclusively within the last five years. The performance begins at 7:30 PM on Saturday and 3:00 PM on Sunday. Under the direction of Music Director Lee Mills, this concert showcases the dynamic and diverse voices shaping the orchestral landscape today.
World Premieres and Virtuoso Highlights
The program features the world premiere of a new composition by Ivan Enrique Rodriguez, a composer known for his powerful musical commentary on social and cultural identity. Greenville Symphony’s Principal Cellist Seth Russell takes center stage for Lembit Beecher’s evocative Tell Me Again, a work that highlights the expressive and lyrical power of the cello.
The afternoon/evening also includes:
Clarice Assad: Circus Fantasia — A playful and vibrant work blending Brazilian and American musical traditions.
Katherine Balch: music for young water that danced beneath my feet — An ethereal and atmospheric soundscape composed in 2021.
